Apocalyptic Love

Apocalyptic Love

Apocalyptic Love is a series of articles dedicated to the matches made in this crazy mixed-up world.  The Convergence Chronicle hopes to get everyone primed and ready for Valentine's Day.

A Match Made in the Apocalypse

The Convergence Chronicle recently hosted its monthly Pizza Party in hopes of finding a shining beacon of excellence among the Citizenry to write about.  What we found was one lovely couple willing to share their love story.  It was truly a story born of the apocalyptic wasteland most of the world has become, and continues in the sanctuary of Convergence that we call home.

The two entered the evening intent on enjoying pizza and joking about babies, but quickly the reporters of the Chronicle engaged the couple - inquiring about how they met.  Amara began the tale by describing how she had been a technician in New York City.  "Got meself trapped undah part a' sum wall dat fell onna me.  Got left ta burn alive,"  She told the Chronicle in a pleasant accent.

What came next was nothing short of a miracle.  A Cyborg Scout pulled Amara's still burning body out of the downed building and she was transported to a safe haven in Texas.  It was there that she met a doctor named Tristan.  It was Tristan who designed for Amara a new cybernetic arm and eye, effectively putting her back together after the horrors she faced in New York.

The way the couple describe their relationship, is that she is a mechanic and he is a doctor, and they fix each other.  This applies to mental, physical and all other aspects of their lives.  Amara is Tristan's personal mechanic, and on top of being her doctor, he is also her partner and friend, making sure that she eats, sleeps and takes care of herself.  Tristan described Amara as being rather obsessed with her work, and that it is his job to make sure she takes breaks.  He appeared truly happy to have this as part of their relationship.

As the story continued, Tristan told the Chronicle that the facility in which they met fell under attack, and it was Amara that convinced him to steal away with her.  Instead of staying and fighting like his instincts told him to do, he left with her and began to travel from safe-haven to safe-haven in search of a place to call home.

The Chronicle asked the couple that since they had survived many hardships and over-came so many adversities, what did they believe was the one thing that kept them going?  Amara answered, "Maybe it was my desire ta finish my research."

The two described traveling North to California and as the hardships continued, one of Tristan's cybernetic eyes became damaged.  In an act of true love, the two exchanged eyes and these became a symbol, almost like wedding rings.  After telling the Chronicle of how the two had exchanged eyes, Amara became embarrassed and waffled on whether she wanted this knowledge published.  We at the Chronicle assured her that such a thing was truly beautiful and we believed was a symbol of hope and love in what can sometimes be a bleak world.

As the couple reached Northern California they heard a rumor of a domed community on an island.  It was then they started toward Convergence and now they are part of the Citizenry.  Amara is the owner of the Greasy Wrench Repair Shop and Tristan is a doctor at the Nexus.  These two represent intricate parts of our community and their love story is one all of Convergence should share.

The Convergence Chronicle thanks Amara and Tristan for sharing their wonderful story with us, and hope they have many more lovely years together.

Apocalyptic Love will continue through February and Convergence Citizens are encouraged to send in stories about love found in this crazy world.  Send your stories to Alexi Alkaev (smellapple) or Ruka Kurosawa (jetsette123) or drop them off in the Convergence Chronicle mailbox by the door.  (Simply drop a NC in the box.)
